Living Sustainably in the Inland Empire: A 2025 Needs assessment for Indio & Banning, CA

Project Objectives

*Promote healthy living

* Advance workforce development by training interns

*Build community capacity helping residents to advocate 

     for environmental wellness 

Success will be measured by community participation and engagement, agency support for changes, and community capacity building to ensure continuing of these efforts at the end of this project.

This project is funded through an environmental justice grant issued by CalEPA. 

Project Location

 The areas included in the study are the those identified by CalEnviroScreen as having high levels of environmental burden in Indio & Banning  

Indio, CA


Disadvantaged Areas - Districts 2 and 3, S. of I10 Corridor, E. of Monroe St. & N. of Dr. Carreon Blvd. 

Banning, CA


 Disadvantaged Areas – Districts 1, 2 & 5 More than 17,704 Total
